I chatted with this sweet man, in the streets of Old Havana, for about half an hour. He was really happy to have someone to share his thoughts with and was very curious about where I came from. After a while, I asked if I could take his picture and he happily agreed. I am now in the process of printing them so I can send them off, back towards Cuba. April '06

Minolta Bee

Yesterday I went for the first time to the CNE in Toronto. I was joined by my friend Julia who looked like she had come right out of the fifties. This Minolta was her grandfather's, she got it from him a year ago and has been taking some really nice photos. I fell in love with taking photos of her camera, so many more will come. Julia's heading back to Halifax today, I won't see her until Christmas. It was overall a very good fifties last day together, with our A-line skirt/dress, ferris wheels, marching bands and corn. Hazel & Kisha

These two girls (age 5) were eager to show us their little puppies in the miniature town of Tortuguero, Costa Rica. It is a car-less town with a population of 1000 and the main reason why tourists go there is to see the turtles lay their eggs at night. I quite liked the town it-self though, very rustic but with character. Aug. '06

Pink & Blue

My sweet cousin Diana, who didn't like this shot - probably because it is from an unusual angle which she doesn't see everyday. It was taken in a square in Old Havana during one afternoon where we skipped the afternoon ballet classes to go for a stroll in the city. April '06

Purple Bloom

This purple lily is found in the most beautiful lily pond I've ever seen, fit for Degas, in a hotel in Tepoztlan, a small town in Mexico. My dad had to work there for a couple of days so Maja and I sneaked in and had a very relaxing time. June '06
UPDATE: I am back in Toronto, after a long journey of 4 months through Central America. I came across nothing but good experiences and very interesting people from whom I learned a lot. There will be many photos to come from the travels and stories to go along. I now get to enjoy the last two weeks of summer and work to help my sad and empty bank account before starting school again.

UPDATE: Maja and I are now in Monteverde, Costa Rica. It is one of my favourite places, up in the mountains in the rainforest. From Flores in Guatemala, we went to beautiful Antigua (the previous capital of Guatemala until an earthquake destroyed parts of it) and then from there to the huge Lake Atitlan. A two day trip of 26 hours on a bus brought us to Costa Rica. We just left the beach of Santa Teresa where my sister lives very happily and carefree.
