Red Eyed Frog

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This is the famous red-eyed tree frog. Last time I visited the Monteverde Rainforest in Costa Rica I got to hold one of these creatures in my hand at a place called "The Frog Pond",which is basically a frog zoo. At that time fell in love with all frogs, especially this one and the granular glass frog. Aug '06

I submitted this photo to the JPG Magazine. You can't actually vote for this one yet but you can vote for these other two for Issue 8. If chosen my photos could get printed in this magazine created for non-professional photographers. Take a look...

Hazel Complot

Here's 5 year old Hazel planning her tactic to get some star fruits, carambolas, down from the tree. They pretended that it was their business to sell these fruits. I bought two. Aug '06

Flashing Before My Eyes

This is something that Maja and I discovered during our trip: taking a photo with flash and a long exposure. We were playing with it at sunset on the hills of the Monteverde Rainforest in Costa Rica. Aug '06

The S Line

One of the many kitties, though perhaps my favourite one, in Tortuguero, Costa Rica. She was always hanging about the mini-convenience store by our hostel. We think she was pregnant. Aug. '06

Afternoon Nap

One of the many dogs in the town of Tortuguero, Costa Rica. I have never seen so many stray dogs and cats in one place, especially in a town of only 1000 people.

The World Press Photo Exhibition is here in Toronto at the BCE Place until tomorrow at 6pm. I went yesterday and the images are incredible. It's a way to get a visual snap shot of last year's both amazing and horrifying events through the eyes of very talented and brave press photographers.

Downward Stairs

The main stairwell that welcomed us every morning at the National Ballet School of Cuba in Havana. Built out of marble and beautifully decorated this has got to be the most precious place where I've ever taken ballet class. April '06

Volcano's Pet

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

During our Pacaya Volcano climb in Guatemala, Maja and I found this lady bug. It was a very strange place to find such creature since it was really high up and cold. I guess she likes to brag about her house next to the lava. July '06

Lake Atitlan

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The magnificent Lake Atitlan, in the mountains of Guatemala. The lake is surrounded by three massive volcanoes and lots of small Mayan towns. By the lake shore there are tons of these types of rickety docks. The area has a very peaceful energy and breathtaking scenery. July '06

Candelaria I

This is Candelaria, we met her in Panajachel, a little town on the shores of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. She was selling corn, they put lemon and salt on it. Although she looks much older, she is my mother's age: 53. When people have had a hard life, it shows on their faces and bodies. July '06

Poor Man's Worship

In Xalapa, we went for a walk through the country side close to the house of my little sister's best friend: Megan. There I saw this miniature church, poor and old, but nevertheless charming. June '06

My First Communion

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

A typical scene at the foot of Mexico's most important religious spot: The Basilica of Guadalupe. During my short visit there I saw at least 10 young girls, all dressed in white, ready to have their first communion. Not being religious my self it is very interesting to see all of these rites from an anthropological point of view. June '06
